Raymond Vouel

Jean Baptiste Raymond Vouel ( born April 8, 1923 in Rumelange; † 12 February 1987) was a Luxembourgian politician of the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party.

In 1942 he obtained the diploma from the commercial and industrial school in Esch. Vouel trained as an economist and later operated inter alia, as editor of the "Journal d' Esch ". From 1963 he was a member of the council of Esch.

He was from 15 July 1964 to February 6, 1968 Secretary of the Government Werner cravat, in charge of Health, Labour, Social Security and mining. On 15 June 1974 he was Deputy Prime Minister of the DP LSAP government of Gaston Thorn. On July 19, 1976, he was designated by Luxembourg to the European Commission and appointed by President Roy Jenkins as Commissioner for Competition. This office he occupied 1977 until 1981.
