Redondo is a small town ( Vila ) and a circle ( concelho ) in Portugal with 5732 inhabitants (as at 30 June 2011).
History
The Anta da Candieira and other megalithic sites occupy a prehistoric settlement since at least the Neolithic period. Findings from the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC also show a continued settlement to the Romans.
Perhaps the present town was re-established as part of the settlement policy after the Reconquista. The city charter of Alfonso III. from 1250 can be interpreted. The city rights were 1318 confirmed and renewed in 1517 in the course of administrative reform of King Manuel I..

Redondo is the seat of a district of the same ( concelho ). The neighboring districts are ( clockwise beginning in the north): Estremoz, Borba, Vila Viçosa, Alandroal, Reguengos de Monsaraz and Évora.
