Regensburg–Hof railway

The railway Regensburg Oberkotzau is an approximately 175 km long main line, which connects the Upper Palatinate district capital of Regensburg Schwandorf, Weiden and Marktredwitz with Oberkotzau at court in Upper Franconia. On the Regensburg -Weiden section the route runs parallel to the river Naab, the section is often referred to as Naabtalbahn. The section Marktredwitz - Oberkotzau was built as part of the Fichtelgebirge mountain railway.

History

On April 12, 1856, King Maximilian II of Bavaria granted the AG Bayerische Ostbahnen permission to build the southern part of the route from Ratisbon to Wiesau and on to Forest Assen. The first section was on 12 December 1859, section Regensburg Schwandorf ( continue to Hersbruck (left Pegnitz ) ), four years later, opened the extension to pasture on 1 October 1863. Another year later, the portion of willows on Wiesau be opened to traffic on August 15, 1864 from Forest Assen. Course

The route begins in the Regensburg Central Station and from there along with the first railway line to the east of Passau. The Schwandorfer railway station is an important railway junction in the Upper Palatinate. There, take the North-South connection from Dresden court in Regensburg and Munich, to the east-west connection from Frankfurt via Nuremberg to Furth im Wald and Prague. Electrification of the line
