Roald Larsen

Roald Morel Larsen ( born 1 February 1898 in Kristiania (now Oslo), † July 28, 1959 ) was a Norwegian speed skater.

His most successful year was 1924, when he, all-around European Champion and Norwegian all-around champion all-around world champion. In addition, he won two silver and three bronze medals at the Olympic Winter Games in 1924 in Chamonix. His record was marred only by the fact that he binned there in all disciplines behind the Finn Clas Thunberg.

In the following years he won several other medals, including a bronze medal at the Olympic Winter Games in 1928 in St. Moritz. He then still occasionally regular competitor, but he celebrated after 1928 no major successes more.

After his retirement from speed skating, he joined his father's footsteps and became Glaser. He founded in 1937 the company Roald Larsen AS in Oslo. This still exists.
