Geographical Location

Rocky Mount is located at the springing in the Vogelsberg River weather.

Neighboring communities

Rockenberg borders in the north on the town coins Mountain, on the east by the municipality Woelfersheim, to the south by the town of Bad Nauheim and the village of Upper Moerlen and in the west on the town of Butzbach.

The municipality consists of the villages Oppershofen and rock mountain. The municipality is located in the district of Rocky Mount.

On December 31, 1971, until then independent municipality Oppershofen was incorporated into the neighboring community of Rocky Mount.

The independent Manfred Wetz sat down on 18 January 2004 at the first ballot with 50.4 % against the CDU candidate Karl Maria Weckler with 49.6 % through. The reigning from 1990-2001 Patrick Bingel no longer stood for health reasons. The next mayoral election is, assuming the full realization of his term of office by Manfred Wetz, held in 2015

Geology / Petrology

Rock mountain on the northern outskirts of the village has a sand pit in the sand is still mined today. The pit is an important location for sand roses.

Structures

  • Marie Castle, a former Cistercian monastery, which today acts as a prison for teenagers.
