Roland Göhler

Roland Göhler ( born March 26, 1943 in Meissen ) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic. 1966 he managed the victory at the World Championships in coxless pairs.

Roland Göhler competed for the SC Einheit Dresden and trained under Hans Eckstein. Together with Peter Kremtz he won in 1964 in the GDR championships and finished in 1965 and 1967 respectively to the second place in two without. The World Rowing Championships in Bled, the two won the title. At the Olympic Games in 1968 two Dresdner two together formed a coxed four. In the occupation of Peter Kremtz, Roland Göhler, Manfred Gelpke, Klaus Jacob and helmsman Dieter Semetzky Dresdner crew won silver behind the New Zealand boat. For winning the silver medal Göhler was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze. In 1969 he was again GDR champion with the quad.

Roland Göhler was originally trained as a carpenter, then studied test engineer beings and eventually received his doctorate. In the district of Dresden, he led the state supervision.
