Rolf Thorsen

Rolf Thorsen Bernt ( born February 22, 1961 in Zurich ) is a former Norwegian rower who won two Olympic silver medals.

Career

His first international medal winning Thorsen at the World Rowing Championships in 1981. Together with Alf Hansen, he finished third in the double sculls. In 1982, the two gold and 1983 they reached the second place behind Thomas Lange and Uwe Heppner from the GDR. At the Olympic Games in 1984 missed both the finals and occupied at the end only to eleventh place.

1987 sat Thorsen in Norway sculls and won silver at the World Championships behind the boat from the Soviet Union. At the 1988 Olympics drove the Norwegian sculls with Vetle Vinje, Lars Bjønness, Rolf Thorsen and Alf Hansen as one of the favorites, but was beaten in the final of the Italians to Agostino Abbagnale.

1989 were Bjønness Lars and Rolf Thorsen as double sculls and won the title at the World Championships. This brought a two Morgenbladet the gold medal. At the Olympic Games in 1992 and Thorsen Bjønness sat together with Kjetil Undset and Per Sætersdal in the quadruple sculls and won silver behind Germany's quadruple sculls. 1993 occupied Thorsen and Bjønness now back in the double sculls second behind the Frenchman Yves Lamarque and Samuel Barathay. 1994 Thorsen won his third gold medal at the World Championships, the second with Lars Bjønness.

In 1996 Rolf Thorsen the Thomas Keller Medal by the International Rowing Federation FISA.
