Roman Catholic Diocese of San Severo

The Diocese of San Severo (Latin: Sancti Severi Dioecesis, Italian: Diocese of San Severo) is located in Italy Roman Catholic diocese based in San Severo.

History

The Diocese of San Severo was built in 1062 as diocese and the Archdiocese of Benevento Civitate is a suffragan. In 1439 the diocese was dissolved and the diocese of Lucera attached, from which it was spun off again in 1478. On February 21, 1580, by Pope Gregory XIII. laid with the Apostolic Constitution Pro excellenti the seat of the Diocese of San Paolo di Civitate to San Severo. In addition, the diocese was renamed the Diocese of Civitate San Severo.
