Roman Catholic Diocese of Villarrica
The Diocese of Villarrica (Latin: Dioecesis Villarricensis, Spanish: diócesis de Villarrica ) is a diocese located in Chile of the Roman Catholic church located in Villarrica.
History
The Diocese of Villa Rica was on July 16, 1901 by Pope Leo XIII. detached from the Diocese of Concepción and built as a Prefecture Apostolic of Araucanía. On March 28, 1928, the Prefecture was raised to the Apostolic Vicariate.
On 19 November 2001, the Apostolic Vicariate of Araucania was established by Pope John Paul II as a diocese Vallerrica. The diocese is the Archdiocese of Concepción Vallerrica a suffragan.
