Roman Dostál

Roman Dostal? / I ( born July 13, 1970 in Ústí nad Orlicí ) is a former Czech biathlete.

Dostal was represented since 1994 regularly in the Biathlon World Cup. After a ninth place in the sprint of Bad Gastein in the 1994/95 season he had to wait over five years to a similar result. Dostal's World Cup race also ran very successful in six World Cups between 1995 and 2001, he never achieved a place among the top 20 athletes. At the World Championships in 2003, he succeeded in 5th place in the mass start, the fifth top-10 finish of his career, his best up to this point placement at all. Quite surprisingly, won Roman Dostal at the 2005 World Championships in Hochfilzen gold in the individual race over 20 km, when he was able to hold with one penalty and the seventh- best run-time before the three German athletes Michael Greis, Ricco Gross and Sven Fischer.

In the following season, 2005/ 06 Dostal get five finishes in the top ten, of which the second place at the season final in Oslo mass start of the second podium of his career. At the end of the season he achieved his best result with the 23th place in the overall World Cup.

Roman Dostal took 2002, 2006 and 2010 Olympic Winter Games in part. His best finish in 2006 succeeded in the mass start as 23 In addition, he finished with the Czech squadron each top ten ranks.
