Rottenmann and Wölz Tauern

The Rottenmanner and Wölzer Tauern are a subgroup of the Central Alps in the Eastern Alps. Together with the Radstadt Tauern, the Schladming Tauern and the Seckauer Tauern form the Rottenmanner and Wölzer Tauern large group of Lower Tauern. The mountain range is located in Austria in Styria.

The Rottenmanner and Wölzer Tauern are located in the central portion of the Lower Tauern between the Sölkpass and the Triebener Tauernpass. They form a cohesive subgroup. The Rottenmanner Tauern form the northeastern part of the subgroup. They are named after the place rotting man. The Wölzer Tauern form the central and southern part of the sub-group. Named here are the places Oberwölz and Niederwölz. The highest point is the Rettlkirchspitze.
