Ruben Kun
Ruben James Kun ( born March 30, 1942) is a politician nauruischer.
Life
He was formerly Minister of Finance and of 19 December 1996 to 13 February 1997, he served as President of the Republic of Nauru. In the presidential election in 1997 he was defeated Kinza Clodumar with one dissenting vote more. He is the uncle of Russell Kun.
The Australian federal government has an agreement with Nauru, which allows to deport asylum seekers in the Nauru Detention Centre. Kun represented in 2004 some of deported asylum seekers to Nauru in a case before the Supreme Court of Nauru.
