Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer

Saint- Cyr- sur -Mer is a commune on the Mediterranean coast between the towns of Bandol and La Ciotat in the west of the Var department in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.

In the community, which consists of the main town of Saint- Cyr, the main port Lecques and the small port of La Madrague, live 11,769 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) to 2115 ha

History

The area of Saint- Cyr- sur -Mer has been inhabited since prehistoric times. One highlight saw the settlement in the Romanesque period, derived from the numerous archaeological findings, Tauroentum can be seen today in the Roman Museum.

In 1825, Saint- Cyr- sur -Mer Off From La Cadière- d'Azur and was an independent municipality.

1913 a replica of Bartholdi's Statue of Liberty was erected to commemorate the commissioning of the first water supply network in Saint- Cyr on the Grande Place.

Economy

The main economic factors are agriculture and tourism. The place belongs to the Bandol wine region (Côtes de Provence AOC Bandol ).
