Sandvik

Sandvik is one of the largest industrial companies in Sweden. The company, which is engaged in special steel industry, was founded in 1862 in Sandviken, Sweden.

Operations

Of the turnover of SEK 86 billion in 2007 tool production were achieved just under three tenths in the area. In particular blades and drills especially for the automotive and general engineering are produced. The subsidiary Seco Tools, a company with products for the metalworking industry contributes 7% of sales.

Produced by Sweden Sandvik 12C27 steel with the designation is also used in the production of traditional French Laguiole knives.

History

Sandvik was founded in 1862 by Göran Fredrik Göransson, who could successfully apply first the Bessemer method for steel on an industrial scale. First Sandvik produced steel for drilling rigs and went in 1901 to the Stockholm Stock Exchange.

In the 1920s, Sandvik took on the production of stainless steel.

In 1991, the Swedish tool manufacturer Sandvik Bahco, in 2005, Walter AG in Tübingen.
