Saramacca District

Saramacca is a district in Suriname. It is bordered on the north by the Atlantic Ocean, on the west by the district Coronie, to the south and southeast to the district Para and on the northeast by the district Wanica.

The district is dominated by agriculture. Traditionally, this has been dominated by relatively small family farms. Recently, there are also larger farms where mainly rice and bananas are grown.

Also significant is tourism. Especially many ornithologists visiting the district, because of its variety of birds.

In parliament ( Assemblée Nationale De ) is represented with three deputies of the district Saramacca.

The district Saramacca is in turn divided into the following six departments ( decentralized):
