Savran, Ukraine

Sawran (Ukrainian and Russian Саврань ) is an urban-type settlement in the south of Ukraine, about 39 kilometers north-east of Balta away. It is the center of the Rajons Sawran and lies at the confluence of the Sawran (also Sawranka ) with the Southern Bug.

The town originated in the 17th century as a fortress city against the Tatar invasions in 1957 and an urban-type settlement. In the 19th century originated in place a larger Jewish community, 1900 were counted 1198 Jews in the town.

The settlement council community include not only the SST nor the village Hetmaniwka ( Гетьманівка ) and the settlement Kowbassowa Polyana ( Ковбасова Поляна )
