Schönwald, Brandenburg

Schoenwald ( Lower BELA Gózd ) is a municipality in the district of Dahme -Spreewald in Brandenburg.

It was created on December 31, 2001, from the voluntary merger of the previously independent municipalities Schonwalde ( Lower Sorbian bely Gózd ) and Waldow -Brand ( Lower Waldow - Brant ). Today, it is subordinate to the Office Unterspreewald, whose administrative headquarters was the site from 1992 to 2012 and lost to the creation of the Office Unterspreewald to Golßen.

Community structure

  • Schonwalde - the district has 900 inhabitants. The first written record dates from January 20, 1345 in a Luckauer certificate. The local church dates from 1696. 1817 smallpox broke out in the city and in 1888 a large fire was raging in the city. The local fire department was established in 1911. Eleven years later, the connection was made to the electricity grid.

The Schonwalde (Spreewald) rail station in the district - spelling notwithstanding the community name with e at the end - is on the railway line Berlin - Görlitz and is operated by DB Regio regional train line RB19 during the day approximately every hour in each direction. The trains to Senftenberg about Lübbenau ( Spreewald) and to Berlin -Schönefeld Airport via King Wusterhausen. In the evening, after 21 clock there is anecdotal direct deliveries to Nauen or to Rathenow over Berlin Ostbahnhof, Berlin Hauptbahnhof and Berlin- Spandau, in the opposite direction to Cottbus on Lübbenau ( Spreewald). The Regional Transport Company Dahme-Spreewald offers with the line 476 to a bus service between the hamlets Schonwalde and Waldow, but does not touch on their routes at the station.

Federal highway 115 runs south of the municipal area. The Federal Highway 13 crosses the municipality without exit while lying on her course parking Bugkgraben / Krausnicker mountains located within the town limits.
