Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen

The company Swiss Radio and Television ( SRF) was established on 1 January 2011 by the merger of Swiss Radio DRS and Swiss television. The new business unit of SRG SSR became the largest electronic media house of German Switzerland. SRF, which claims to around 2,100 employees (as of 2013) employs, has in Basel, Bern and Zurich ( 2) four major studios.

History

The company Swiss Radio and Television was established on 1 January 2011 by the merger of the formerly independent companies and Swiss Radio DRS Swiss television. First, however, the names of SF and SR DRS continued to be used on television and radio continue. A change in the name of SRF has been gradual.

Since 16 December 2012, the television and radio stations will be launched under the brand SRF.

Organization

The test carried out under the project name " media convergence SRG.D » merger is the German part of Switzerland adopted in March 2009 by SRG SSR project "Media convergence and efficiency ." The company Swiss Radio and Television has a total of six program divisions. Cooperations

SRF operates in conjunction with the ARD, ZDF and ORF the television 3sat. In the news and entertainment area SRF works closely with ARD and ZDF. SRF also provides individual programs for the Franco-German cultural program ARTE. SRF is involved in several Euro Visions program.

Reception

All television and radio stations are received in almost the whole of Switzerland via cable and are available via live stream in Switzerland. Furthermore, the radio station outside of Switzerland can be heard via live stream. About the Hotbird satellite the channels are broadcast throughout Europe, SRF 1 and SRF two but send encrypted.

About FM Radio SRF sent 2 Culture and radio SRF 3 in German Switzerland, Radio SRF 1 is sent in the whole of Switzerland. The remaining radio stations are not sent via VHF.

Studios

SRF has several studios. The TV productions are produced in the studios Zurich Leutschenbach. These studios in the north of the city were built in the 1970s.

The radio productions are produced in three main studios, located in Basel, Bern and Zurich fountain courtyard and into four regional studios in Aarau, Chur, St. Gallen and Lucerne. The radio station Radio 1 SRF, SRF Radio 3, Radio SRF music Welle and Radio SRF virus are largely produced in Zurich. Radio SRF 2 culture is produced in the studio Basel. The radio news broadcasts and radio SRF 4 News are produced in the studio Bern. From all seven radio studios regional journals are sent by radio SRF 1.
