Scott Barney
Scott Barney ( born March 27, 1979 in Oshawa, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is under contract with HC Valpellice in the Italian Elite.A since the summer of 2013.
Career
Scott Barney was selected as a total 29 players during the NHL Entry Draft in 1997 by the Los Angeles Kings. In the years 1995 to 1999, he played four years in the Ontario Hockey League for the Peterborough Petes. In the season 1998/99 he was also in five games of the regular season and a playoff game for the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League on the ice. On 28 September 1999 Barney suffered in training camp of the Kings a severe back injury that spielverunfähigte him for three years. He was immediately released from the Kings, but received in 2002 a sample contract for one year, which was later extended by another.
In the season 2002/ 03 Barney played a total of 57 games in the AHL for the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL. He also made his debut in the National Hockey League, where he ran aground five times for the Kings. In the following season the Canadians played 44 times for the Monarchs and 19 times for the Kings. During the lockout the NHL season 2004/ 05 Barney was forced to pause for another year. Following the resumption of the operation of the game winger received on 8 August 2005 a contract as a free agent with the Atlanta Thrashers. During the 2005/06 season Barney played for both the Thrashers, as well as for their farm team in the AHL, the Chicago Wolves.
In the season 2006/ 07 Barney played for the AHL team Grand Rapids Griffins. During the season he moved to league rival Hershey Bears. The 2008 /09 completed Barney for the Augsburger Panther of the DEL. In September 2009, he completed a few test games for the Bietigheim Steelers from the 2nd Hockey League, but was not under contract. Then he moved in October 2009 to Jokerit Lappeenranta. There he played until November 2010 and scored in 64 matches 48 points scorer before he was released on 20 November. He was then obliged by BK Mladá Boleslav Tipsport Extraliga. In January 2011, he left the Czech Republic and returned to Finland, where he was taken from the HPK under contract. Other stations in Europe were the HC Thurgau in Swiss National League B and the EC Dornbirn in the Austrian National League. After Barney had spent the 2012/13 season at High1 in the Asia League Ice Hockey, the Canadian returned in the summer of 2013 returned to Europe and signed a one year contract with the Italian first division club HC Valpellice with gaming operations in the Elite.A.
