Shiyan
Shiyan (Chinese十堰 市, pinyin Shiyan shì ) is a prefecture-level city in northwestern China's Hubei province. Shiyan has an area of 23,727 km ² and about 3.41 million inhabitants (2003 ); Population density: 143.72 inhabitants / km ².
Geography
Shiyan is located on the northern foothills of the Wudang Mountains near the Wudang Shan National Park.
Administrative Divisions
Shiyan consists of two districts, five counties and one independent city:
- Municipality Zhangwan (张 湾区), 652 km ², approximately 260,000 inhabitants (2003 );
- Municipality Maojian (茅箭 区), 578 km ², approximately 240,000 inhabitants (2003);
- Circle Yun (郧 县), 3862 km ², approximately 610,000 inhabitants (2003 ), capital: greater community Chengguan (城关 镇);
- Circle Zhushan (竹山县), 3585 km ², approximately 450,000 inhabitants (2003 ), capital: greater community Chengguan (城关 镇);
- Circle Fang (房 县), 5112 km ², approximately 500,000 inhabitants (2003 ), capital: greater community Chengguan (城关 镇);
- Circle Yunxi (郧西县), 3510 km ², approximately 500,000 inhabitants (2003 ), capital: greater community Chengguan (城关 镇);
- Wuyuan county (竹溪 县), 3300 km ², 360,000 inhabitants (2003 ), capital: greater community Chengguan (城关 镇);
- Danjiangkou City (丹江口 市), 3121 km ², approximately 490,000 inhabitants.
Economy
Today Shiyan is one of the biggest centers of the automotive industry in the People 's Republic of China with 3.4 million inhabitants (2003 ). Until the founding of the PRC 2 car factory (Chinese中华人民共和国 第二 汽车 制造厂) 1969 Shiyan yet was still a small village and grew thereafter a major city. Since 1975 (Chinese东风) are produced in Shiyan Dongfeng cars with the brand. Also here, machinery parts and plastics or products of modern industry are produced.
Traffic
A highway connects Shiyan with Xi'an and Wuhan. There is also an airport.
Culture
In the city you can hardly hear dialects, because people came to support the car factory from China from all over, the only debate that you know, or even usually speaks Mandarin Chinese is so standard Chinese pronunciation. The local dialect speak only the indigenous people.
