Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar (German Shut up and play ' your guitar ) is a rock album by Frank Zappa, released in 1981 on vinyl. There is - with one exception - from guitar solos that Zappa mostly grossed 1979-1980. The album was aimed at guitar savvy audience and originally consisted of three separately priced plates, with the titles of Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar, Shut Up ' n Play Yer Guitar Some More, and Return of the Son of Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar. These were first sold exclusively by mail order, as it was expected to experience a low demand. Because of the unexpectedly great success, the plates were already given a short time as a triple album in the usual sales later. Zappa on the album shows his skill as a solo player, so there are about four solos from the play Inca Roads, which were recorded by Zappa within three days, with "hardly a lick repeated ". In the last piece, Canard du jour Zappa improvised duet with Jean -Luc Ponty on bouzouki and electric violin.
