Simon Hjalmarsson
Simon Hjalmarsson ( born February 1, 1989 in Värnamo ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is under contract with Luleå HF in the Elitserien since 2010.
Career
Simon Hjalmarsson began his career as a hockey player in the junior department of the Gislaveds SK, in which he was active until 2005. Subsequently, the winger played four years for the youth teams of Frölunda HC, for the first team he in the 2007/ 08 season his debut in the Elitserien, the highest Swedish league, gave, in which he, however, for his club played only one game. Parallel to the game Operation with Frölunda he ran from 2007 to 2009 as Players out on loan for the Borås HC in the subprime HockeyAllsvenskan on. He was then selected in the KHL Junior Draft 2009 in the third round than a total of 51 players from HK Sibir Novosibirsk. Already in the NHL Entry Draft in 2007 it had the St. Louis Blues in the second round selected as the 39th player. From the two draft teams he was not obligated in the following period. Instead, he ran on in the season 2009/ 10 for the Elitserien participants Rögle BK, with whom he had to accept the descent into HockeyAllsvenskan end of the season.
For the 2010/11 season Hjalmarsson was obligated from Luleå HF of the Elitserien, for whom he has performed since then.
Internationally
For Sweden Hjalmarsson took part in the U18 World Youth Championship 2007 and the Under-20 World Youth Championship 2009. In the 2007 U18 World Championships he won the bronze, at the 2009 U20 World Championship silver medal with his team. At the World Championships in 2013 in Stockholm and Helsinki, he was part of the Men's National Team and won the gold medal with this.
