Siptah

Siptah the 7 ancient Egyptian king (Pharaoh) of the 19th Dynasty ( New Kingdom ), and reigned 1198-1193 BC or 1196-1190 BC

Origin

Presumably, he was the son of his predecessor Seti II with a Syrian concubine named Sutiraja which appears on the relief in the Louvre E 26901. However, the identification as the mother of Siptah is not safe.

Name

In his first two years of the reign Siptah wearing the proper name " Ramses Siptah " and the throne name " Shai -n- re meri -Amun ". From his third year rule was the proper name " Merenptah Siptah " and the throne name "Oh en Re setep en Re " and " Oh s re meri Imen ". The background for the change both names are not known.

Documents

Siptah is occupied by various inscriptions and representations, especially from Wadi Halfa and Abu Simbel. More can be found in Sehel, Amada, Aswan and Gebel es - Silsileh. Monuments from his reign are his grave KV47 in the Valley of the Kings and his mortuary temple and two usurped by Amenmesse steles from Qurna. Also in the grave Tausert Siptah is called by a representation.

Rule

After the death of the heir apparent Sethi - Merenptah Siptah moved by in this position. His throne was completed between the 28th and 19th Achet IV Peret I. He then reigned for 5 years and 9 months. Death and succession

Siptah died in his sixth year of the reign, and was buried in grave KV47 in the Valley of the Kings. His mummy was examined not only shed light on his age, but also the fact that the King was suffering from poliomyelitis.
