SK Austria Kärnten

The SK Austria Kärnten ( officially SK Austria Kärnten Kelag ) was an Austrian football club based in the Carinthian capital Klagenfurt with the club colors of black and white silver.

History

In a general meeting on 10 May 2007, the then Bundesliga side ASKOE Traun decided to change his club seat June 1, 2007, after Carinthia. In a further General Assembly in this June 1, the name was changed to SK Austria Kärnten. This name was chosen in reference to the many years of first division side SK Austria Klagenfurt, which is now called FC Kärnten.

It was preceded by negotiations governor of Carinthia Jörg Haider, who already was previously president of FC Kärnten, with Traun President Franz degrees. The relocation of the club was paid three million euros, a new club called FC Traun, the newly launched in a lottery syndicate in the fifth highest Austrian playing level, was also founded. First President of Austria was Haider's Alliance for the Future party colleague Mario Canori, a former vice mayor of Klagenfurt. The SK Austria Kärnten took over in his first season several players from Traun, particularly among young player of the FC Kärnten and veterans of the Bundesliga Absteigers GAK were set aside. In the spring of 2008, Schinkel presented a concept that should be better tied the club in the state. Stadium

The SK Austria Kärnten was at a time when there was no bundesliga compatible stadium in Klagenfurt Wörthersee stadium due to the then under construction. The following two home games were played at the Sports Centre Fischl in Klagenfurt. Women's Soccer

The women's team competition persists despite the resolution of the men's team. The team was taken over in the meantime FC St. Veit, 2009 back to the SK Austria Kärnten, under the name SK KELAG Carinthia, incorporated and adopted by FC St. Veit again in 2011. 2013, the team was in Carinthians - renamed Soccer Woman. Under this name it plays today in the Austrian Women's Bundesliga and is considered the best women's team in Carinthia. Their home games wearing the players on the sports field Glanegg.
