The SKA Saint Petersburg ( Russian СКА Санкт - Петербург ) is an ice hockey club from Saint Petersburg, Russia. He plays in the Kontinental Hockey League. The club colors are white, red and blue.

History

The club was founded in 1946 as a sports club of Sergei Kirov - house officer in Leningrad. Already in 1956 the club was renamed Leningrad in LDO (LDO: Leningrad House of officers ). The club grew rapidly in 1957 he became the official club of the Leningrad Military District and was renamed Leningrad in Skwo ( Skwo: Sports Club of the Military District ). ( SKA: Sports Club of the Army ) 1959 the club was renamed Leningrad in SKA. The nickname SKA then got nearly all the sports associations of the military. Since the 1994/95 season, the club plays under the present name SKA Saint Petersburg.

Particularly successful was the club in the early 1970s could be won twice in a row, the Spengler Cup with the former coach Nikolai Puchkov, as in 1970 and 1971. The third profit was made in 1977, the fourth in 2010.

1971 and 1987 the club won the bronze medals of the Soviet championship.
