Smrk (Třebíč District)

Smrk ( German Smrek ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers east of Třebíč and belongs to Okres Třebíč.

Geography

Smrk is located on a plateau on the left side above the valley of the brook Mlýnský creek in Krischanauer Bergland ( Křižanovská Highlands ) in the south of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. East of the village rises the dome Na Stráži ( 481 m ) in the north of the Na krochotech (491 m). To the east lie the Pozďatíner ponds.

Neighboring towns are Kojatín in the north, Pozďatín in the Northeast, U Nádrazí and Strojatín in the east, and Studenec Jindřichův Dvůr the southeast, Vladislav in the south, the west and Hostákov Opatský Mlýn and Valdíkov in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Smrk took place in 1101 in the founding charter of the Benedictine monastery Třebíč. Later, the village came to secular owners. 1555 sold Vratislav of Pernštejna the village of Ulrich von Lomnitz on Meseritsch and Namiest.

After the abolition of patrimonial Smrk formed in 1850 a municipality in the district Třebíč. The volunteer fire department Smrk na Moravě founded in 1905. In 1906, living in the 44 houses of the village of 272 people. Until 1919 Smrk had grown to 55 stores and had 288 inhabitants. In 1964, the incorporation of Kojatín was.
