Geography

Geographical Location

The settlement in the belt of Freiburg im Breisgau located in the upper Dreisamtal community lands located in the Southern Black Forest approximately 8 km (air line) east of Freiburg. It extends north from the confluence of Rotbach and Wagensteig Bach to Dreisamstadion. My nucleus is traversed by Eschbach ( a Dreisamstadion inflow ).

History

The main town lands divided further into the settlements webs, hamlets, Upper and Lower Birch and legal stream. The original core was the rule hamlet. 1929 hired the Order of the Sacred Heart Priests to the site of the former castle and taught there one a religious house. The boarding school was abandoned in 1997 and the school was in 1998 under the sponsorship of the school foundation of the archdiocese of Freiburg on.

On 1 July 1974, the community was incorporated into Wittental webs. The current community lands was formed on 1 January 1975 by combining the two communities webs and Eschbach in the Black Forest.

Districts

Eschbach

The Eschbachtal with its side valleys was first mentioned in 1112 and belonged to a part of the St. Peter's monastery on the Black Forest. The other part, first Dinghof of Einsiedeln Abbey, finally got to the Barons of SICKINGEN until they sold their property in 1808 to the State of Baden. The both parts Eschbach were combined in 1811 to a municipality in the land office of Freiburg. The community led dated 23 February 1973 and the association with lands the additional name in the Black Forest.

Wittental

At the beginning of the 19th century the church Wittental was created from the settlements Attental, Wittental and the Baldenwegerhof. Were first mentioned upper and Unterwittental in the 13th century in the possession of the monastery of St. Margen directory. The ash represents the district Eschbach, but also symbolizes the same creek that runs through the municipality in full length. The Bohlweg or web, which has already been used by the old community webs as a seal image is reminiscent of the wooden paths through the swampy terrain at the output of Eschbachtals.
