On 1 January 2007 the new Struer municipality has arisen in the course of municipal reform as a new Danish municipality. It was formed from the "old " Struer municipality and the municipality Thyholm.
Struer municipality has a total population of 21,846 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2013 ) and an area of 246.20 km ². It is part of Jutland region.
At the commune beside the Thyholm include the islands located in the Limfjord Jegindø and Venø. With Thyholm on the North West Jutland, the community is connected to the combined road and railway bridge Oddesundbroen.
Villages in the municipality
The municipal area, the following villages are more than 200 inhabitants ( byer as defined by the Danish Bureau of Statistics ), with a registered population of zero, the place in the past had more than 200 inhabitants:
