Subdivisions of Zambia

The administrative divisions of Zambia recognizes two levels of government. Since 2011, Zambia is divided into ten provinces ( provinces ), which are in turn subdivided into 89 local authorities: these, 69 have a status as District Council, 4 as City Council and 16 as a Municipal Council.

Provinces

The state is divided into ten provinces. Recent Province is the only province created in 2011 Much input.

Districts

The provinces are subdivided into districts. These bear the name of the district capital. Differences are both boma by the addition in the capital and the additional district at the district, so for example, Mansa boma and Mansa district. Each boma usually a hospital, primary and secondary schools, the latter mostly with boarding school for 1,000 students.

The individual districts are listed among the provinces. The 72 counties are divided into Wards 1422. For each Ward Councillor is elected by the population. Several Wards / Councillors are combined to form a council.
