Suleyman Ali " Sulley " Muntari ( born August 27, 1984 in Konongo ) is a Ghanaian football player who is under contract at AC Milan.

He plays in the defensive and central midfield, but can also be used on the left wing.

Career

In the club

For the season 2002/ 03 the then 18 -year-old Muntari moved from the Liberty Professionals of Ghana for Serie A club Udinese Calcio.

In the summer of 2006, he wanted to switch to the Premier League, preferably at Manchester United. In the winter of 2007 some English and Italian clubs such as AC Milan showed interest in Ghanaian midfielder. Udinese Calcio but declined in winter from a range of over eleven million euros. In summer 2007, Muntari joined for the equivalent of ten million euros to FC Portsmouth. He signed a contract until 2012. In 2008 he won with Portsmouth FA Cup.

In summer 2008, Muntari moved for 14 million euros to Italy to Inter Milan. He signed a five-year contract. After Muntari was out no more come at Inter on the role of a substitute player, he was loaned out in January 2011 for half a year at the AFC Sunderland. There he met John Mensah and Asamoah Gyan, with whom he also plays in the Ghanaian national team.

January 31, 2012 Inter Milan Muntari gave to the AC Milan until end of season. He later received a terminal contract for two years until 30 June 2014.

In the National Team

His debut in the Ghanaian national Muntari was on 17 May 2002 in a friendly match against Slovenia. With the Football World Cup 2006 in Germany, he met an important 2-0 win against the Czech Republic but could not take part in the 2-1 against the United States by his second yellow card. Nevertheless, he had a tremendous amount of Ghana reached the second round, which was lost against Brazil.

In the opening match of the Africa Cup 2008 against Guinea Muntari scored the 2-1 for Ghana in extra time and came with his national team to third place. For the Africa Cup 2010, he was not considered for disciplinary reasons.

During the test before the World Cup 2010 against the Netherlands (1:4), there was a dispute on the field between Muntari and Hans Sarpei, which asked Muntari to mannschaftsdienlicheren play. In the 2010 World Cup Muntari came in the first two group matches only a thirteen- minute appearance against Australia. After he had become so abusive against the coach, he was banished from the squad shortly before the last group match. In the quarter- final against Uruguay he came for the first time from the start to use and also scored the intermediate 1-0. Ghana still unhappy difference in the penalty shoot- out and missed the chance to collect the first African team in a World Cup semi-finals.
