Formation

After Carcass had re-formed for a few concerts in the summer of 2007, the requests for more performances accumulated in the years 2008 and 2009. The absence due to illness of drummer Ken Owen was offset by the obligation of Daniel Erlandsson ( Arch Enemy ), as second guitarist Michael Amott acted ( also Arch Enemy ). The appearances at the reunion turned out for the band members to be financially lucrative, yet Amott decided at the beginning of the 2010s, to focus more on his other commitments to Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggars. Also Erlandsson returned to Arch Enemy. But Walker wanted to promote the reunion, Steer was able to convince record a new album and the duo began in the summer of 2011 with the song writing. It was followed by the obligation of Aborted drummer Daniel Wilding and Carcass started even without a record deal and at its own expense in mid-2012 with the recordings. As a session guitarist Ben Ash was added, as a guest musician Ken Owen contributed some vocals on. As a producer, the band chose Colin Richardson, who was already responsible for the production of the previous four albums. Presumably for commercial reasons Richardson had not been able to make even the mix of the album, this Andy Sneap was committed. In February 2013, the band announced that work on the album are almost completed and that Carcass is now looking for a record label for publication. Finally, the German label Nuclear Blast announced in May 2013 that it had been contracted Carcass. On August 9, the advance single Captive Bolt Pistol appeared on 13 September 2013, the album was released.
