Swale

Swale is an administrative district with the status of a borough in the county of Kent in England. It is named after the narrow Swale channel that separates the Isle of Sheppey from the rest of Kent. The largest part of the district is located on the island. Council is based in Sittingbourne; significant sights are bobbing, Eastchurch, Faversham, Queenborough and Sheerness.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the boroughs Sittingbourne and Queenborough -in- Sheppey, the Urban District Sittingbourne and Milton and the Swale Rural District.
