  • Gillis Grafström (1920 Figure Skating)

Balance: medal hopes there were for Sweden, especially in figure skating, curling and ice hockey. The curling was only in 2006 retroactively the status of an official Olympic competition, so that the obtained there silver medal was first performed in the results only as a trophy of a demonstration competition. In Chamonix we had still been convinced that all was holding competitions are olympic. In figure skating, Gillis Grafström filled with his successful title defense as the only of the Swedish team, the expectations that were placed on him. A place on the podium would have been his comrade Sports Svea Norén may have. The Vice World Champion from 1922 but did not travel to. Also bronze in hockey had originally been booked already. But the player to captain Birger Holmquist vergeigten her second Olympic appearance, as they surprisingly lost in the final round with 3:4 against Great Britain. The skiers had no chance against the Norwegian supremacy. Axel - Herman Nilsson, Torkel Persson, Per -Erik Hedlund, Ernst Alm and the other occupied positions between 5 und12. In speed skating exactly the same drama. The Finns and the Norwegians dominated the runs such that Axel Blomqvist still performed best with room 6 on the 500 m.
