Swimming at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's 200 metre breaststroke
The competition of the men 's 200m breast at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held on July 31 and August 1, 2012 in London Aquatics Centre. 34 athletes took part.
There were five heats. The 16 fastest swimmers of all heats qualified for the two semi-finals, which were held on the same day. Again, the finalists qualified through the eight fastest times of both semi-finals.

Silver medalist Jamieson succeeded in this competition not only to verssern the British record three times. In the final, he was also faster than the hitherto applicable Olympic record. It was the third-fastest ever swum time over this distance.
