History

1995-2002: From the foundation to the resolution

In 1995, Davey von Bohlen decided to leave his band Cap'n Jazz, in which he served as lead singer and guitarist, and to devote himself exclusively to his originally founded as a side project band The Promise Ring. A year later, the formation of the independent label Jade Tree was signed, where four albums and several EPs appeared in the episode, including a split EP with Texas Is the Reason.

Scott Beschta 1997 left the band. He was initially replaced by Tim Burton.

The first tour with new bassist, the tour bus turned over. Burton broke his arm and was replaced by Scott Schoenbeck, with the band 's next album, Very Emergency grossed. Then devoted to von Bohlen and Didier initially a new side project called Vermont.

In 2000, a brain tumor in relatively far advanced stage was at von Bohlen discovered (supposedly big as a fist ). Following successful surgery and the associated break parted The Promise Ring by Jade Tree. 2001 By Bohlen was on the Jimmy Eat World Bleed American album to guest ( upon him refers to the song A Praise Chorus with the lines " I'm on my feet I'm on the floor I'm good to go. / Sun come on Davey sing me something that I know. " in which he also appears as a guest vocalist ), the year published on the Promise Ring more album at Epitaph sublabel ANTI- Records, which recorded by the Smiths producer Stephen Street wood / water. In 2002, the band broke up.

2002-2011: The time without The Promise Ring

Davey von Bohlen and Didier founded the band Maritime who released three albums since 2004. Schoenbeck concurred with Dashboard Confessional; Gnewikow works as a graphic designer (among other things for the Counting Crows, New End Original and Jimmy Eat World ).

Scott Beschta published in 2005 under the name Magic Arrows CD Sweet Heavenly Angel Of Death.

Reunification

The first public sign of a reunion was a new Twitter account, which bore the name of the band and was opened with the words "Hello, again ... " in November 2011. The account turned out to be authentic. A little later, first appearances were announced and the band played on February 24, 2012 in Milwaukee their first reunion concert.
