Tor Svendsberget

Goal Svendsberget ( born November 3, 1947 in Aust- Torpa ) is a former Norwegian biathlete.

Goal Svendsberget launched for Engerdal Sportsklubb. 1967 and 1968 he won the gold medals in singles at the inaugural Junior World Championships in Altenberg and Lulea. He took in 1969 in Zakopane for the first time at the Biathlon World Championships and was part of the 23 Single Page. A year later, he won both the individual behind Alexander Tikhonov, as well as first runner with Ragnar Tveiten, Magnar Solberg and Estonians Gjelten as a squadron of Norway after the season of the Soviet Union, the silver medals. In 1971, in Hämeenlinna again winning the silver medal with Tveiten, Solberg and Ivar Nordkild in the relay race added, again was first runner in the Svendsberget. At the Olympic Winter Games Sapporo in 1972 the Norwegians ran to eighth place in the individual and missed with Kåre Hovda, Nordkild and Solberg in fourth place in the relay race almost an Olympic medal. In Lake Placid, he won at the World Championships the following year behind Tikhonov and Gennady Kovalev the bronze medal in the singles and Estonians Gjelten, Tveiten and Kjell Hovda silver in the relay race behind the Soviet Union. Behind Juhani Suutarinen and Gheorghe Garnita he again won bronze in singles and with the Hovdas and Terje Hanssen bronze in the relay competition. In the inaugural Sprint Competition of Norwegians finished in 29th place. Also in 1975, he reached in Antholz again very good results, but missed medal winnings. In individual he missed in fourth place just a medal in the sprint race he finished fifth in the sprint and he reached the 14th place. In 1976 Svendsberget for the second time at the Olympic Winter Games in part. In Innsbruck he was ninth and the Single Page with Kjell Hovda, Hansen and Svein Engen fifth in the relay. In the Biathlon World Championships 1977 in Vingrom he missed again just a medal in the relay was the Norwegians fourth. He also reached the eighth place in the individual and the ninth in the sprint. Conclusion of the international career the Biathlon World Championships 1978, in Hochfilzen, where Svendsberget with Odd Lirhus, Sigleif Johansen and Roar Nilsen as the final Relay runners again won the silver medal and left up to the season of the GDR for the first time a German team to victory in a World Cup had.

Also nationally Svendsberget was a runner of the second and third places and less a victory runners. In 1969, he won his first silver medal in singles behind Jon Istad. In 1973, she won silver in the individual behind Tveiten, 1975 Bjørn Sirijord behind in the sprint. In 1976, he won with the representation Østerdals the bronze medal in the relay race. The following year, he won both silver behind Engen in individual as well as bronze in the sprint behind Engen and Johansen. The only title of his career won Svendsberget 1978 Sigvart Bjøntegård, Ola Lunde and Kjell Sobak in the relay race. His last medal he won in 1979 with a bronze in the relay competition.
