Tore Sjöstrand

Sjöstrand gates (gates Ingemar Sjöstrand, born July 31, 1921 in Huddinge, † 26 January 2011) was a Swedish track and field athlete and Olympic champion in 1948 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Because of World War II Sjöstrand was only at the age of 25 years, earn his first major international competition. The European Athletics Championships 1946 in Oslo, he won the bronze medal, behind the Frenchman Raphael Pujazon and Sweden Erik Elmsäter.

He celebrated his biggest success at the 1948 Olympic Games in London. Before his compatriots Erik Elmsäter and Gothenburg Hagström he won the gold medal.

The European Athletics Championships 1950 in Brussels Sjöstrand reached the eighth place. He then ended his sports career.
