Toše Proeski
Todor " Toše " Proeski ( Macedonian Тодор Тоше Проески; born January 25, 1981 in Prilep, (then Yugoslavia ), † 16 October 2007 in Nova Gradiška Croatia ) was a Macedonian singer and songwriter.
Life
Proeski studied solo singing at the Music Academy in Skopje. Characteristic was his saying "Ve sakam site" or " Sve vas volim " ( I love you all! ), Which he used repeatedly to say during his performances. During his musical career he pflegete business cooperation with personalities such as Gianna Nannini, Marina Tucaković, Bora Čorba, Phoebus, Jeff Beck, Grigor Koprov, Goca Tržan, Leon Tina Vukomanović, Željko Joksimović, Karolina Gočeva, Esma Redžepova, Antonija Šola, Toni Cetinski, Anja Rupel and Miro Buljan.
Early years
Proeski was on, as he performed at the children's festival " Zlatno Slavejce " ( "Golden Nightingale " ) with a friend.
His first major public appearance was as a professional singer Proeski 1996 and 1997 he participated in the " Melfest " in Prilep, a festival for young people, in which he won two times in a row the first place. There he fell to its vocal abilities. In 1997, Proeski with the song " Pusti me" ( Let me ) on " Makfest " in Stip part. His fanbase quickly grew and he used various festivals to promote his songs. 2000 Proeski took part once again in the national pre-selection round for Euro Vision Song Contest. His song " Solzi Pravat Zlaten prsten " ( tears make a Golden Ring ) got the most phone calls, but finally reached "only" the third place. At the peak of the career
The breakthrough in the former Serbia and Montenegro and thus the first step beyond the borders of Macedonia, he managed through appearances at the festival " Sunčane scale", the most famous music festival in Montenegro. His first big success in Serbia was " Vo kosi because spijam ti " ( " sleep on your hair " ), still sung in Macedonian. In Bosnia - Herzegovina in 2006 he gave a free concert in the town hall of Sarajevo Zetra. He was also awarded the prestigious award " Davorin " as the best artists of the region in 2006.
Proeski was known as one of the few artists who were equally successful in all successor states of Yugoslavia. In Bulgaria he could market his albums successfully.
After a tour of Australia in 2002 was the third album " Ako me pogledneš vo oči " / " Ako me pogledaš u oči " (title of the Serbo-Croatian version of the album ) ( If you see me in the eye ).
Proeski took in New York singing lessons to improve his voice further. His teacher was William Riley, who worked with Luciano Pavarotti. After his return was Toše numerous charity concerts. For this he was awarded the "Mother Teresa Award" and was since 2003 " UNICEF ambassador ". In his hometown of Krusevo he financed the renovation of an Orthodox monastery. He also participated in an education project of the Macedonian AIDS Help. For Skopje Children's Hospital, he gave many charity concerts.
2004 Proeski was selected to represent Macedonia at the Euro Vision Song Contest in Istanbul. His song "Angel Si Ti " ( You're an angel ) was chosen by the audience and himself. In the contest, he took up with the English version "Life" of the song, reaching the 14th place.
His next two albums were released throughout ex- Yugoslavia. " Po Tebe " / " Pratim te" (title of the Serbo-Croatian version of the album ) ( I follow you ) was one of the most successful albums and led the charts in Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia - Herzegovina on months.
His work " Bozilak " (Rainbow) contained 14 selected traditional Macedonian songs. He was assisted by a symphony orchestra.
The last album of his career with the title " Igri Bez Granici '/' Igra Bez Granica " ( Serbo-Croatian title of the album ) ( games without frontiers ) was released in August 2007.
Proeski but made himself as a songwriter a name. He wrote many of his numerous successful hits yourself He says that he wrote more than 100 songs. But he wanted to wait in his own words with many for the right moment to publish it.
Coming soon an album should have appeared in English, which was meant for the international market. Seven songs had already been recorded. The first single, a duet with Gianna Nannini was "Aria" thought, which was first presented at the concert in Belgrade on 14 February 2007. Toše Proeski had an older sister. His partner was the Women's Handball Andrijana Budimir.
Death
Toše Proeski died on the morning of October 16, 2007 in a car accident on the Croatian A3 motorway near Nova Gradiška. Proeski was asleep in the front seat of his car and still died at the scene after the car had collided with a truck. Also in the car was his producer Ljiljana Petrović, which was only slightly injured. The driver Georgy Georgijevski also survived, but with severe head injuries. Subsequently, it was announced that the driver had fallen asleep due to fatigue and had lost control of the vehicle.
The news of Proeskis death triggered in the former Yugoslavia from emotions and reactions that went far beyond what is customary mourning. The Croatian police then filed a complaint against the driver Georgy Georgijevski. The police also announced that the airbag had failed and the pillows were not worked out. Immediately after the accident, the police launched a campaign against speeding on the highway, with the motto " Ne BRZE od života " ( " Do not drive faster than life! " ) With Proeskis photo on the banners.
Immediately after the announcement of death Proeskis people gathered in the central squares in Macedonia. They wept, lit candles in his memory to, brought flowers, stuffed animals, posters, etc. The Parliament put an official minute's silence and interrupted his work in the port. Both the President and the Prime Minister position in relation to the accident and expressed their condolences. Television stations in Macedonia interrupted their program and reported continuously about the accident, showed viewers polls in which the deep concern of the people was clear.
The 17th of October ( day of the funeral ) was declared in Macedonia for Memorial Day. Proeski was buried with full heads of state and church honors. At the time of his funeral, most offices and shops were closed. Taxis and buses were people free to the funeral. Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and the President Branko Crvenkovski held alongside other a eulogy. Many celebrities, statesmen, clergymen of the former Yugoslavia and Europe attended the funeral at, including Svetlana Ceca Ražnatović, Vlado Georgijev, Željko Joksimović, Tijana Dapčević, Tamara Todevska, jasar Ahmedovski, Toni Cetinski, Aki Rahimovski, Antonija Šola, Kaliopi Bukle, Karolina Gočeva, Vesna Petrusevska, Arhiepiskop Ohridsko - Stefan Makedonski, Mr Fouéré (representatives of the EU), Jillien Milovanovic ( emissaries of the U.S.), Hongwei Gao (representative of UNICEF).
Honors
Proeski was declared a posthumous honorary citizen of Macedonia.
In the Macedonian embassies throughout the former Yugoslavia in the funeral Proeskis condolence were designed in the daytime, in which the mourners were able to enter a final farewell. In Belgrade, the road was " Gospodara Jevremova ", in which the Macedonian embassy is flooded with crowds. On 15 December 2007, the Macedonian Post published a special stamp with Todors motif. In 2011, a specially for him newly built memorial was dedicated in his hometown of Krusevo. In the same year, the former Marshal Tito Street there was renamed after Toše Proeski. Such honors are not yet supplied any part become celebrities in Macedonia.
