Tyr ( on the cover also in runes TYR) is the fifteenth studio album by the British heavy metal band Black Sabbath. It was released in August 1990.

Formation

A year after Black Sabbath Headless Cross went in the spring of 1990 returned to the studio to record the self-produced successors. Stylistically, the album gave significantly from previous albums as it contained many dark keyboard passages by Geoff Nicholls. It was content ajar loosely on Norse mythology, which also reflects the album title Tyr.

Reception

Martin Groß wrote in Metal Hammer, Tyr was " turned out of the songs here less grip than its predecessor, but also not as a rehash, but stands rather by the splendor that emanates from the outstanding musicians who are at work here. " These qualities were " Tyr to be a plate that best meets the balance between feeling and originality. " He forgave seven out of seven possible points. The album reached number one of the "Sound Check" in Metal Hammer with an average grade of the editors of 5.90 (out of seven). Wrote James Chrispell from Allmusic, with Tyr Black Sabbath sounded " as serious as it was only possible ". An eerie approach mixed with " breaking guitar riffs ." He missed three out of five stars.
