U.S. Alessandria Calcio 1912

The Unione Sportiva Alessandria Calcio 1912 is an Italian football club based in Alessandria in Piedmont.

The club was founded in February 1912, the team nickname is " I Grigi " ( " The Grey " ), because of the gray kit. The club played 1929-1960 13 seasons in Serie A, their best chart position was the sixth place they achieved in the seasons 1929/30 and 1931/32.

History

In 1896, the first sports club in Alessandria, the Unione Pro Sports, was founded. Later Forza Forza e Concordia and e Coraggio followed. While Unione Pro Sport and Forza e Concordia withdrew after 1900, Forza e Coraggio Opened in 1912, its football section Foot Ball Club Alessandria, which thus became the first football club in the city. The first of the team jerseys were white and light blue. In November 1920 the merged Foot Ball Club Alessandria with another football team of the city, the Unione Sportiva Alessandrina, which was founded in 1915. The new club Unione Sportiva Alessandria was called and played in gray jerseys.

The team was in the season 1929/30, one of the founding members of Serie A, in which it played in eight seasons and 1929/30 and 1931/32 respectively in sixth place. In the season 1936/37, however, rose to Serie B from, in the following season reached the Grigi here although the first place, but lost the two relegation matches against FC Modena and Novara Calcio.

For the season 1946/47, the U.S. Alessandria returned to Serie A, but increased again after two years off. Between 1957 and 1960 the club spent his last period in the highest Italian league. During this period, namely 1958, arguably the most famous players in the club's history, Gianni Rivera made ​​his debut in the match against Inter Milan in the gray dress.
