Ursula Happe

Ursula Happe (nee Krey ) ( born October 20, 1926 in Gdańsk ) is a former German swimmer.

Their greatest success was winning the gold medal in the 200 m breaststroke at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne; they also held the world record over this distance. Two years earlier, she already won gold over 200m breaststroke and bronze over 100m butterfly at the European Championships in 1954. In addition, she won 18 German titles in various disciplines.

In the years 1954 and 1956 she was voted Athlete of the Year in Germany. In 1997, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame International Swimming Sports.

Ursula Happe is the mother of former handball national player Thomas Happe.
