Vichtenstein

Vichtenstein is a municipality in Upper Austria in Schärding district in Innviertel with 675 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district Schärding.

Geography

History

Vichtenstein Castle was built around the year 1100. The castle was established as the administrative center of the Bishopric of Passau for the surrounding property.
