Victor Hănescu

Victor Hanescu (born 21 July 1981 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian tennis player.

Career

Hanescu began at the age of seven years, to play tennis. In 2000, he joined the professional tennis. Since 2001 he is member of the Romanian Davis Cup team.

The greatest success of his career (as of May 2007) celebrated Hanescu at Roland Garros in 2005, when he moved into the quarter-finals after a five set win over David Nalbandian. There he was defeated by world number one Roger Federer.

His best finish to date in the tennis world ranking he reached on 6 July 2009 with # 26 (July 2009). In 2006 he was able to defend any of the good results and fell in the rankings far behind. He struggles with injuries and could only participate in a few tournaments where he had to retire early. In 2008 he won the final in Gstaad, his first tournament victory in an ATP tournament.

In doubles, he has been able to win two ATP tournaments (Kitzbühel and Acapulco).
