The Victoria Road is a football stadium in Dagenham, Barking and Dagenham in northeast London, England. It is the home of the football club Dagenham & Redbridge and offers 6,078 spectators a place. From 2003 to 2006, the venue was the Glyn Hopkin Stadium Sponsorenamen, after a car dealer. In July 2007, the association agreed with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham a sponsorship deal on a new stadium name. So the stadium bears the official name London Borough of Barking & Dagenham Stadium today.

History

The stadium was built in 1917 next to a steel mill. In 1955, Briggs moved to Sports at the Rush Green Road and Dagenham became the new users of the stadium. During the summer, was removed tiles from the board and a new lawn was sown. The grandstands were extended. Only a small wooden grandstand had a roof. A new main stand was built from the autumn of 1955; the opening of the stands with about 800 seats was celebrated on January 7, 1956. In the summer of 1956, a turnstile and toilets for visitors to the plant was completed. The first game under floodlights took place between Dagenham and Woodford Town in the FA Youth Cup on 26 September 1957. In the first night game of the first team of FC Dagenham they met on January 19, 1958 Rainham Town.

Until the advent of Redbridge Forest in 1990, little did the stadium. The new co user paid a new grandstand. The seat rank replaced a standing area. This extension was necessary for the requirements of the Football Conference. Two years later merged the two clubs FC Dagenham and Redbridge Forest for Dagenham & Redbridge FC. In 1995 we renovated the dilapidated walls and two years later the toilet area in the stadium. Next, the old wooden grandstand was demolished in 2001 and replaced by the new Marcus James Stand with seats. Only three months after the demolition was to build and was inaugurated in the game Dagenham & Redbridge against FC Canvey Iceland on August 4, 2001. In the summer of 2001, the turnstile as the floodlights was renewed.

In October 2001, the club merged with the Brewery Bass Brewery from a sponsorship deal for the grandstand over £ 150,000. The main grandstand was named Carling stand Revenue from the contract could further construction to. Thus, the paths were repaired at the stadium and the Bury Road End got a new hub facility. With these modifications, the stadium holds 6,078 spectators today.

In summer 2012, the stadium received a new, more powerful floodlights to meet the requirements of the Football League.

Other Terms

In addition to games of Dagenham & Redbridge the English national football team of the women used the venue to an international match against the Swedes. A semi-final in the FA Women's Cup was held in Dagenham. Furthermore, there were games of English youth football team in the Victoria Road.

Attendance record

The record attendance since the merger of the two clubs was set up on 5 January 2002. The FA Cup match of the 3rd round between Dagenham & Redbridge and Ipswich Town saw 5,949 spectators.
