Villa Minozzo

Villa Minozzo is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3847 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Reggio Emilia in Emilia -Romagna. The municipality is situated approximately 39 km south-southwest of Reggio Emilia in the Apennines. Villa Minozzo directly borders the provinces of Modena and Lucca. The northern boundary of the municipality is the Secchia, the east of Dolo.

History

The community holds a larger Roman necropolis. While the rock and the court of Melocium ( rocca di Melocia ) in the late 10th century has been marked as a possession of Otto I and Otto II, the place Minozzo is first mentioned in documents in 1070.
