Ville Peltonen

Ville Peltonen Sakari ( born May 24, 1973 in Vantaa ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who plays for IFK Helsingfors in the SM- liiga since 2010.

Career

Peltonen started his professional career in the Finnish hockey club HIFK Helsinki of the SM - liiga in. In 1995 he moved to America at the National Hockey League to play for the San Jose Sharks, who had selected him in the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 in the third round as 58th. After two seasons, he returned to Europe. After a year at the Frölunda HC in the Swedish Elitserien, he returned to North America to play for the Nashville Predators. 2001 he moved again to Europe where he played for Jokerit Helsinki two years in the SM- liiga. After three successful seasons and a Swiss championship with the HC Lugano is Peltonen again tried to enforce in the NHL.

In the 2009/10 season he played for HC Dinamo Minsk in the Kontinental Hockey League, before he returned in July 2010 to his hometown club HIFK. With this he won the Finnish championship in the season 2010/11.

Internationally

Peltonen often played in the Finnish national ice hockey team. A particular success for him was his hat- trick in the final match of the Hockey World Cup in 1995 against Sweden. Finland won 4-1 and became the first world champion. In 2006 he won the Finnish team the silver medal at the Winter Olympics in Turin. Four years later at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, he won the bronze medal.
