Eero Somervuori

Eero Somervuori (born 7 February 1979 in Järvenpää ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since May 2011 in Helsingfors IFK in the SM- liiga under contract.

Career

Eero Somervuori comes from the offspring of the Finnish first division club Jokerit, for which he went through the youth teams and 1995/96, made ​​his debut in the SM- liiga. He was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1997 by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh round at 170th place, but never played so far in the NHL. Instead, he remained true to his home club in 2000 and played in more than 180 top-flight games for Jokerit, also several times in the European Hockey League.

After that, he played for three years at HPK Hämeenlinna, where he became the top scorer. The season 2003/ 04 he spent for the first time not in Finland, but with the Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League. But a year later he moved back to the SM- liiga to Kärpät Oulu, scored 45 points scorer for in 68 games. In the summer of 2005, Eero Somervuori was then obliged by HC Ambri -Piotta, but he was unable to due to a shoulder injury dispute only 21 games in the NLA. The following NLA season it was better for him, he scored in 51 games 48 points scorer.
