Vy-lès-Lure

Vy- lès -Lure is a town in the French department of Haute- Saône in the Franche-Comté region.

Geography

Vy- lès -Lure is located at an altitude of 292 m above sea level, 6 km southwest of Lure and about 22 km east of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, in the hollow of the brook Gros Varale, on the southwestern edge of the plain of Lure.

The area of ​​16.00 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the level of Lure. The central part of the area occupied by the basin of Vy, which is dehydrated to Ognon by the Gros Varale to the southeast. The trough is flanked by plateau-like hills that are on average 300 m and are mainly used for agricultural purposes. The arable and meadow land is bordered by a forest belt: in the south of the Bois des Grandes Lochères and the Bois de Sans Bois, east of the Bois de Talère. The latter leads us to the Alluvialniederung Ognon and its tributary Reigne, which marks the eastern boundary of the municipality.

To the north- west and the north the land rises slightly to the forest heights of Bois du Fays and Bois du Roi, in the 359 meters, the highest elevation of Vy- lès -Lure is achieved. In geological- tectonic terms, the area mainly of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments is established, which were deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ). In the Bois du Roi also limestone of Middle Triassic comes to light. To the north, the municipality's area extends into the partly marshy lowlands of Razou at the edge of the plain of Lure.

At Vy- lès -Lure of the hamlet of La Grange du Vau south part (295 m ) in a trough of the valley of the Razou. Neighboring communities of Vy- lès -Lure are Amblans -et- Velotte and Magny- Vernois in the north, Vouhenans in the east, Les Aynans and Arpenans in the south and Mollans in the West.

History

Vy is mentioned in a document under the name Vyt, Vile and Vis. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. It formed its own rule. Since the early 12th century, the existence of the local noble family Vyt is busy, went out only in 1697. In 1346 the town was burned down by the Lords of Faucogney on fire. The Grange de Vau was initially owned by the Templars Coming of sales Montseugny, later it belonged to the Hospitallers. Together with the Franche -Comté Vy came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Attractions

The village church of Vy- lès -Lure was extensively rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries, the choir comes from the earlier building from the 16th century. Population

With 681 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Vy- lès -Lure is one of the smaller towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881, 891 people were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Vy- lès -Lure was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. The water power of Ognon and Reigne was formerly used for the operation of mills ( Moulin de Petenieuf, Moulin Blanc). Today there are various companies of small and medium enterprises.
