Waasland-Beveren
KV Red Star Waasland - Sportkring Beveren (better known under the short name Waasland ) is a Belgian football club Beveren. The club colors are red, yellow and blue. Was founded the club as Voetbalclub Red Star Nieuwkerken -Waas and entered in 1944 under the name KFC Red Star Haasdonk the Royal Belgian Football Association in. In 2002, the club moved into the Puyenbekestadion in Sint- Niklaas, and 2010 after the merger with the unofficial club KSK Beveren Beveren back to the stadium Freethiel.
History
On 1 May 1936, the Voetbalclub Red Star Nieuwkerken -Waas was founded. This first occurred in the Vlaamsche Voetbal Bond and was only in 1944, but under the name Red Star Haasdonk, a member of the official Belgian association. In 1986 the club was the attribute " royal " award.
Red Star played in the regional league fünftklassigen East Flanders. 2000 succeeded where the championship and thus the rise in the national fourth division. This was achieved with a point ahead of Eendracht Meldert again the first place and thus the direct walkover into the third division. There, the team finished sixth in their first season. At the end of the season the club moved to Belsele, a borough of the city of Sint- Niklaas, in the larger Puyenbekestadion, had played in the club until 2000, the Sint- Niklase SK. The club name was therefore changed to KV Red Star Waasland.
According to an eighth place in 2003 succeeded in 2004, the third time in five years, a first place in the standings. Thus, the club was promoted to the second division. With two points ahead of AFC Tubize the team was there in fifth for the ascent games qualify surprising to the First Division. The local rivals KSK Beveren got in the spring of 2010 in financial and competitive problems. On 20 May 2010 the clubs announced their unofficial merger. An official and legal group dropped out because of the debt burden of KSK Beveren. The first team of KSK Beveren was dissolved and KV Red Star Waasland in KVRS Waasland - renamed SK Beveren. In addition, the club moved to the stadium Freethiel in Beveren. The club colors are a combination of yellow-red colors of Red Star Waasland and the yellow- blue colors of Beveren.
The biggest success after the merger was the rise in the Jupiler Pro League 2011 /12, where we qualified in second on the play-offs for the first league.
