Wade Brookbank

Wade Brookbank ( born September 29, 1977 in Lanigan, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since February 2012 at the Rockford IceHogs in the American Hockey League contract.

Career

The 1.93 m wide winger began his career with the Windsor Spitfires in the Canadian Junior Football League Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and then first played in various North American minor leagues. After his involvement with the Anchorage Aces of the West Coast Hockey League, and the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League of the Left shooter was finally obliged as a free agent by the Ottawa Senators. However Brookbank never completed an NHL game for the Senators and was finally selected in the NHL Waiver Draft in 2003 by the Nashville Predators.

For the Predators completed the striker, who can also be used as a defender in the 2003/04 season his first appearances in the National Hockey League, but was still transferred in the current season with the Vancouver Canucks. For the 2006/07 season Brookbank was again obliged as a free agent, this time from the Boston Bruins, but soon charges him to the Pittsburgh Penguins. This put the attacker but only at their farm team, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League one, so it was after the season committed by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Although Brook Bank regularly in the NHL squad came there to use, it transferred the Carolina Hurricanes during the season 2008/ 09 together with Josef Melichar to the Tampa Bay Lightning to secure the services of Finland's Jussi Jokinen attacker. The Bolts, however, the Canadians had no NHL - use and acted solely in the farm team at the Norfolk Admirals. As a free agent Brook Bank hired in late July 2009, the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he was also active in the AHL farm team.

After his contract expired in the summer of 2010, he agreed for 2010/ 11 to a contract for one season with the Rockford IceHogs. The following game year Brookbank was mainly vertragslos before the defender was hired in February 2012 by the Rockford IceHogs for a so-called professional try-out (PTO).

Brookbank is the brother of Sheldon Brookbank and cousin of Geoff Sanderson.
